Commitment to the service of complex patients

UM has always sought to care for those individuals at the margins of the health care system: the elderly, the chronically ill disabled, and the urban poor. UM providers coordinate care and advocate for these medically underserved populations.

Susan Kaufman the director of Urban Medcal is incredibly proud of the dedicated and compassionate care the Urban Medical clinicians provide patients every day.
Urban Medical have undertaken two pilot programs – a program to reduce the disparity in health care experienced by different cultural groups, and a project to improve care for the chronically ill and the elderly.

The House Calls program,  built on our long-term partnerships with housing providers and senior congregate facilities, and to prove through research and staff training, the benefits of the Urban Medical Model of community-based care for the elderly.

A Symposium held April of 2008, brought national attention to the Urban Medical Model – a model that we believe offers significant hope for the future of primary care.

Urban Medicals 30th anniversary fund-raising Gala was held on April 4, 2008 – including a performance by The Capitol Steps – a hilarious political satire musical ensemble.
